When entering repetitive text in Excel there is a keyboard shortcut that can help speed up the process. It uses the Alt and the Down-Arrow navigational keys.
In the example below there are a list of items in the Products column (A)
- Click in the cell A6 and press the Alt and Down-Arrow keys, together, on the keyboard
- An alphabetical list will display all the text entries made in column A so far
- Use the Down-Arrow key to navigate through the list.
- Press the Enter key to select the highlighted text
Note: Your cursor must be either within or below a block of cells that contain text within a column. This feature will not work if there are blank cells in the column.
